Alistair writes: On Thursday 1st May 2003, I stood on the ballot in the constituency of Glasgow Kelvin for Independent Green Voice. I took 1,300 votes and saved my deposit with 5.9% of the vote.
Thank you to all the 1300 people of Glasgow Kelvin who voted for me, and who helped to deliver such a wonderful result.
Thank you also to the many people who helped in my campaign, including those who helped me with printing, with ideas, with web work, with leafleting, and by helping on election day.
I did not stand on the overcrowded "Glasgow Region" ballot, which includes all ten Glasgow constituencies; but interestingly, my vote in the one Glasgow constituency of Kelvin was almost two and a half times the vote of UKIP's vote in the entire Glasgow Region. It was also more than UKIP took in the entire Central Region, and likewise the entire Lothians Region.
I was also standing in the Glasgow Hillhead Council Ward, where I succeeded in pushing the Tory candidate into sixth place.
